Mrs.Bodak has won teacher of the year for Spotswood High School. She and her co-workers celebrated this achievement in her room on Monday February 1st. Mrs. Bodak has been in special education for thirty-six years. Before she started working at Spotswood, she taught small children that were going in and out of district school. For the past thirty-four years, Mrs.Bodak has been teaching special education at Spotswood High School. Students that struggle with any level of math know where and when to find her. Mrs.Bodak is in school early in the morning and in the afternoon, she even offers help during her prep periods. Students within the school may go to her, for notes in the case that they are absent from school.
Mrs.Bodak always expects a high level of performance from students and co-workers but, most of all, herself. She serves in numerous committees in Spotswood. Mrs.Bodak was the first in-class support teacher at Spotswood high school, and she has really set the standards for all the teachers. She even helped train other teachers in the concept of being an in-class support teacher. For the last five years she has been a mentor to five different special education teachers. In the words of Mrs.Furman, another special education teacher of math at Spotswood High school, “Mrs.Bodak is a role model for any teacher in the district.”
